I built this as a passion project after years of frustration jumping between outdated screenwriting software and AI tools that didn’t understand screenwriting — or respect my ideas and way of writing.

Inkwell is my answer: a professional, offline-friendly screenwriting app where AI helps you brainstorm, edit, and refine your script — but never writes for you.

Every suggestion from Quill (our built-in AI co-writer powered by your choice of LLM) appears as a diff you can approve or reject, inspired by the structured workflows in tools like Windsurf and Cursor. This ensures you stay the sole author of your work, fully aligned with WGA’s AI use guidelines.

I’m not a full-time writer, but I love the craft, spend a lot of time with scripts, and wanted to make something that is built for writers, not for automation.
